| Characteristics | BIOFA
Undercoat is a white, well-covering primer made from natural raw materials.
It is water- repellent and adheres well to wood, steel, aluminium, copper,
zinc and galvanized surfaces. Approved for toys (EN 71) and is sweat and
saliva proof (DIN 53160). |
| Ingredients | Aliphatic hydrocarbons,
chalk, titanium-dioxide, talcum, zinc oxide, castor oil, colophony resin
ester, citrus peel oil, clay, cobalt, zirconium and zinc octoate driers,
ethanol. |
| Application | For
priming prior to BIOFA oil based paints on wood and metal. |
| Preliminary treatment | Surface
must be smooth, dry (max. moisture: 14%) and free from grease. If necessary,
clean with Thinner. Remove flaking old paint, otherwise clean and
sand. Treat new or very dry exterior wood with Herbal Wood Primer.
Prime metal in danger of rusting with Rust Primer. Timber containing
acid (oak) or tropical woods (e.g. Framire) for exterior fittings like
windows, doors, etc., should be thoroughly cleaned with turpentine substitute,
treated with 1% caustic soda and then neutralized with vinegar water and
thoroughly cleaned with clean water. |
| Directions for use | Stir
thoroughly before using and if necessary, thin with Thinner. Can
be brushed, rolled or sprayed (spraying specifications: firm after 25-30
seconds, nozzle 1-1,5 mm, pressure 3-4 bars). Do not apply below 12°C. Important: Make sure to ventilate well when working with the product and while it is drying! |
| Drying | Dry
after 6-12 hours (20-23°C/50-55% relative air moisture). Can be sanded
and recoated after 12-16 hours. |
| Coverage | One litre will
cover 8-10 m². |
| Cleaning of implements |
Clean with Thinner.
Leave Thinner
to stand, decant clean liquid and use again. |
| Storage | Seal well and
keep in a cool dry place. Keep leftovers in smaller containers and close
well to prevent skin. |
| Safety precautions | Flammable
Class A III! Danger of spontaneous combustion! Keep rags soaked in Undercoat 1210 in water or allow to dry out completely. Keep away from children. The raw materials used can cause a smell that is typical of the product. |
| Disposal | Ask advice about
quantities to prevent leftovers. Clean containers and take to a recycling
centre. Do not dispose of solvent-based products carelessly. Dried-out
leftovers can be disposed of with your household rubbish. |
